Pad Thai: A Classic Thai Dish and an Easy Homemade Recipe

Ingredients for Pad Thai (Serves 2)

  • 1/2 package (16 oz) wide rice noodles
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1/4 lb pork, sliced into thin strips
  • 3 Tbsp dried shrimp
  • 2 Tbsp chopped salted radish (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 Tbsp thin soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 1/4 cup crushed roasted peanuts
  • Cilantro for garnish

How to Make Pad Thai

1. Prepare the noodles

Boil 3 cups of water and pour over rice noodles. Soak for 20 minutes or until soft. Drain well.

2. Stir-fry the pork

Heat vegetable oil in a wok. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add pork and cook until no longer pink.

3. Add noodles and seasonings

Add noodles, dried shrimp, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, and bean sprouts. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes.

4. Mix in salted radish and peanuts

Add salted radish (optional) and stir-fry for 1 more minute. Add crushed peanuts and mix well.

5. Serve

Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with cilantro. Serve with lime wedges if desired.
